Examining Biblical Truth Through the Lens of Science
Examining Biblical Truth Through the Lens of Science
The field of science, especially the natural sciences such as biology, chemistry, and physics, seems to be incompatible with the belief in a Creator God as presented in the Bible. However, this apparent opposition is artificially created by interpreting scientific findings within a philosophical framework in which every result must conform to naturalistic causes. As such, scientists who investigate the origin of the universe and the emergence of life have to interpret their findings according to this assumption.
One consequence is that the statement "The textbooks have to be rewritten" appears increasingly often in discussions of new scientific findings.
In science, the principle that, when faced with two competing explanations for the same phenomenon, the simpler one is more likely to be true is known as "Occam's razor." This philosophical concept, attributed to William of Ockham, suggests that entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity, favoring explanations that make the fewest assumptions.
It is often paraphrased as "the simplest explanation is usually the best one" and is used as a guiding principle in scientific inquiry and problem-solving.
Look at our world and decide for yourself which explanation is simpler: an almighty Creator, or the emergence of the universe from nothing, life from non-life, and complex organisms through undirected processes and chance alone.
