Prophecy in the Bible – What is its purpose?

God has given humanity prophecies throughout the Old and New Testaments. These prophecies were given to prepare believers for important events, help them discern the times in which they are living, and provide validation of the Bible as the Word of God.

Prophecy in the Bible – Why should I trust it?

Since Bible prophecy is often related to important historic events, it is possible to verify these prophecies using historical records. Biblical prophecies have consistently stood the test of time and the examination of historical records by historians, who have been confronted with evidence confirming the predicted events. Biblical prophecy can cover short periods of time, but it can also cover millennia.

The longest biblical prophecy for which dates can be established from historical records spans more than 2,300 years.
